Working with Trans and Non-Binary Artists will outline best practices for staging effective and affirming trans and non-binary intimacy. Our theatre, film, and educational institutions are built upon colonial sex/gender systems, resulting in stories that often misrepresent life outside the binary while marginalizing trans storytellers themselves. As arts professionals, we are called into a relational and reparative approach to resist bias against transgender and non-binary people and forge new methods for consent-based collaboration. This course offers interactive and reflective opportunities to engage with queer/trans perspectives on creating spaces for gender-expansive artists to thrive.
