TIE DIPLOMA
Train. Learn. Achieve.
Beginner. Intermediate. Advanced. Advanced Plus.
What is the TIE Diploma?
Theatrical Intimacy Education is grateful for the hours many spend training and learning with us. We wish to honor the education participants have completed by awarding the TIE Diploma. Earning the TIE Diploma demonstrates that the holder has a comprehensive understanding of the TIE pedagogy holistically. The TIE Diploma is earned after a participant has taken set number courses for each level that are outlined below. For now, there are four degree levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced Plus.
This an umbrella document for all those letters of class completion many have collected over the years. We hope this will provide a more efficient way to note training on curricula vitae and resumes.
How do I earn my TIE Diploma?
Please read through each diploma level. Once you have taken the set number of courses to earn the Diploma, please go to “Request Diploma” option and submit your request.
How do I request my TIE Diploma?
Please click on “Request Diploma” and answer the questions. Once our team has received and verified your request, you will receive your TIE Diploma via email.
May I take classes from from the next level if I have not completed the previous level?
Yes, you may take classes at any level as long as you have completed the prerequisite for that particular class. Please read the class description and see if it requires a prerequisite. Most classes require that you have taken Best Practices or the Workshop Weekend, but some do not. Some classes do not have a prerequisite, for example, the Two Hour Tips: Intimacy Coordinator Lab and Hiring an IC. There are no prerequisites for in-person workshops.
When will I receive my TIE Diploma after a request is submitted?
We ask for your patience with us and give us a two month time span to verify your request and send you your TIE Diploma. The Diploma you receive will be a PDF document sent to you via email.
How is this not a “certification”?
In the absence of a national nonprofit credentialing organization to establish and maintain standards for an Intimacy Coordination, Intimacy Choreography, and Intimacy Direction certification, we offer the TIE Diploma. The Diploma indicates and honors an individual’s training with Theatrical Intimacy Education’s tools and practices.
We will not offer a certification until a national nonprofit credentialing organization establishes industry-wide standards for an Intimacy Coordination, Intimacy Choreography, and Intimacy Direction certification.
The TIE Diploma signifies an individual’s level of training with TIE's philosophy and practices in the absence of a national nonprofit credentialing organization.
